Since Alice's adventures occur while she's in a dream state, I chose to illustrate her with her eyes closed.
The one unchanging aspect of all the many Alice depictions seems to be that she's a blonde. There was no compelling reason to alter this and the soft pastel threads used to stitch a blonde child would contrast nicely with the Wonderland characters' vibrant pallete.
