my LNS) pointed at the wall behind me and nervously assured that he would re-frame the piece if I didn't care for his unconventional treatment.
Slowly turning around (and not knowing what to expect!), I was absolutely thrilled by what he'd done. His burnt, cut-out inner mat not only helps contour the image, it also reinforces the flavour of this piece. A great job, Neale... thank you.
