I came across Voltaire's description of Love several years ago and was immediately struck by its' appropriateness to stitchers.

The thumbnails below illustrate a couple of early attempts to weave an image from these beautiful words.

This summer, while camping, it all began to come together

Initially, the balloon was going to be very 'showy'

Once a direction for this piece had been established, the early lay-out came together quite quickly.
