This 'hidden image' design, is a companion to an earlier, 1960's piece Far Out (Hippy).

DESIGN DETAILS... CRUISIN' THE STRIP, SIPPING SODAS, BOWLING, GOING TO THE DRIVE IN - the central figure in this design (who's, no doubt, sporting a Brylcreemed duck-tail) is surrounded by icons of his time. Travelling clock-wise (and starting at the top-left) let's cruise on by the details in this piece, where a transparent NEON 'DRIVE IN' SIGN invites the Friday night crowd. A YELLOW POLKA-DOT BIKINI dangles, by a coat hanger, from this sign. A JIVING COUPLE dances below his ZIPPERED LEATHER JACKET while a RETRO 'MOTEL' SIGN (in Fiesta-ware colours) provides a back-drop for the SILHOUETTE OF A COUPLE SIPPING A SODA. FLAME DETAILING on hot-rods was very popular and BOWLING was all the rage. Thankfully, we're more aware of the dangers of smoking today but, in the 50's, a character like this wouldn't have gone anywhere without his cigarettes or his MOTORBIKE (the handle-bars of this 'hidden image' form the centre part of his sunglasses and the gas-tank and wheel help define his nose).
