Stitcher Finish

I'd like to thank Annette T. of Christchurch NZ for allowing me to show you this photo of her with her finished, framed "The Play's the Thing: Shakespeare"

She has a very special reason for being interested in this piece... she actually performs in Shakespearean plays! She recently appeared in an outdoor production of "A Comedy of Errors" as Adriana.

Since Annette isn't particularly fond of the colour pink, she chose to adjust the fairys' wardrobe to her own liking.

Thank you, Annette... Well done!

Canadian Stitchers needed

The Wellington County Museum & Archives (www.wcm.on.ca) occupies a building which is the "oldest House of Industry in Canada" (located between Fergus and Elora, Ontario).

It's the site of many exhibitions that are of particular interest to needleworkers and, if you really work fast, you can enter the juried show, "Passions!" All entries must be original designs and this opportunity is open to any Canadian resident. For more information, please visit Threadworks 2007.

Stitching on the Edge

The Embroiderer's Guild of Canada is holding its annual seminar in St. John's, Newfoundland this year. "Stitching on the Edge", will take place between May 15 to May 23 at the Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's.

While you're visiting the EAC site, don't forget to check out the latest news for young embroiderers by clicking on the "EAC Youth Site" link.

Creativ Festival

The Spring Creativ Festival is just around the corner. It's grown into an amazing extravaganza with experts onsite to guide and inspire your all your crafting adventures.

Carla Canonico will be there with some of the designers that have been, or will be, featured in her beautiful needlework magazine A Needle Pulling Thread.

This lovely magazine is available as a subscription, through your local needlework shop and at your favourite book shop.

Just a Little Reminder

In 2005, Wendy Mesley (a popular TV journalist and co-host of CBC's consumer show, 'Marketplace') was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Her diagnosis, subsequent treatment and recovery led her to investigate the rising incidence of all forms of cancer throughout North America. The end result was an informative and much-repeated television show, "Chasing the Cancer Answer" which exposed startling facts about the fight against cancer and our environment. CBC has also provided online tips about avoiding carcinogens in common household products.

Please don't forget to familiarize yourself with the signs of Ovarian Cancer and to ensure that the men in your life remember their PSA checks.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this newsletter. I hope you've found it interesting. Take care... and Happy Stitching,

Lynne
